Cordova City Council offers city manager job to Alan Lanning

The Cordova City Council will meet during a special session Tuesday night, to approve an employment contract between Alan Lanning, of Steamboat Springs, Colo., and the City of Cordova.
Lanning, one of three finalists for the city manager slot, was interviewed by council members and Mayor Clay Koplin Sept. 17. Alan Sorum, of Valdez, and Bradley Hanson, of Onawa, Iowa, were also finalists for the position.
Lanning is a former City Manager of Lake City, Minn. and has served in multiple posts and locations as a city manager and/or city administrator.
The Cordova City Council will meet in special session at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, in Council chambers.
Council is expected to go into executive session to finalize Lanning’s contract.

According to information released by city officials Monday, the city has offered Lanning a package with an $120,000 annual salary and benefits, for a two-year contract agreement.
