@ Your Library: Read to your kids

It’s no big surprise that young children first learn language by listening to adults talk to them. Nor is it a surprise that reading aloud to kids is important to their success, both in school and work, not to mention life in general. What might surprise you more is the ‘picture books’ have on average, around 70 percent more unique words than conversations directed at kids. Studies suggest that reading to kids not only helps them learn language but actually improves and builds their vocabularies.

The new children’s room in the Cordova Public Library is a comfy, quiet place to start reading to your little ones. New children’s books are arriving all the time at the library.  Storytime for Little Ones with Anna Hernandez is every Wednesday at 11 am.  Bring your child to the library often and find that quiet little spot and sit and read. No matter what age!

The Cordova Public Library is open:

Tuesday – Thursday 10:00-8:00

Friday 10:00-6:00

Saturday and Sunday Noon – 5:0
