AFN announces keynote addresses

Emil Notti, who served as the first president of the Alaska Federation of Natives, will deliver a keynote address at AFN’s 50th anniversary gathering in Fairbanks on Oct. 20-22, with Megan Alvanna-Stimpfle, a member of the King Island Traditional Council.

Also on the speaker agenda are Ambassador Mark Brzezinski, executive director of the Arctic Executive Steering Committee at the White House, Department of Energy Deputy Secretary Elizabeth Sherwood-Randall, and Interior Deputy Secretary Mike Connor. Brzezinski is the former U.S. ambassador to Sweden.

The convention will also include a candidate forum for congressional races.

The convention is open to the public. Gavel-to-gavel coverage will be broadcast on GCI “907” Channel, ARCS and 360 North Oct. 20 and Oct. 21 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and then for quyana culture performances from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., plus Oct. 22 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
