Benson endorses Stock for Senate

Educator and former Democratic congressional candidate Diane Benson has endorsed independent Margaret Stock, one of five contenders competing for the U.S. Senate seat held by Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska.

Benson, an assistant professor of Alaska Native Studies and Rural Development for the University of Alaska Fairbanks, praised Stock for her ability of problem solving, understanding of Native issues, intelligence, compassion and values.

Benson also said Stock’s dedication to the rights of all people, and willingness to take on issues like climate change and social issues like suicide and domestic violence, along with her background in military service make her a strong candidate.

Benson was the Democratic nominee for lieutenant governor of Alaska in 2010 and a primary election hopeful in the 2008 Democratic primary for the U.S, House of Representatives.
