The Copper River Wild! Salmon Festival planning team is excited to announce that next summer the Copper River Wild! Salmon Festival will be celebrating its 15th anniversary on July 14 – 15!
It may seem like the days of summer are a long way off, but for the Salmon Festival team it is never too early to start planning. With the 15th anniversary on the horizon we are planning the biggest festival yet for Summer 2017! Of course that means we are going to kick things off by updating the Salmon Festival logo. We are asking interested artists to submit design proposals for a new Copper River Wild! Salmon Festival logo.
Salmon Jam was the original name of the music event when it was started in 1999 in the warehouse at Orca Cannery, but since then the event has evolved into something much bigger. In 2002 community tourism partners hatched the idea of combining Salmon Jam with the independently organized AK Salmon Runs. In years following the Small Fry education activities, the arts and crafts vendors, and Taste of Cordova were added to create the festival we have today.
Launching the new logo for the 15th anniversary is one of the ways we hope to take the Festival to the next level. “We are excited to celebrate our 15th anniversary with a new look by creating a new logo for Copper River Wild! Salmon Festival,” said Kate Morse, program director for the Copper River Watershed Project. “There are so many creative minds in the community and I’m excited to see the ideas proposed that demonstrate how salmon are so tightly connected to our way of life in Cordova.”
If you are an artist we want to hear from you about your ideas for a new logo. More details about proposal requirements can be found at copperriverwild.org or by emailing shae@copperriver.org.
All proposals are due in our office by 5 p.m. on Dec 5.
