Obituary: Cheryl Maria Parsons

August 19, 1964 – January 7, 2017

Cheryl Maria Parsons passed away from a long-term illness on January 7th, with her Father and Sister by her side. Cheryl was born on August 19th, 1964, in Cordova. She graduated from Cordova High where she was an outstanding cheerleader for the Wolverines.

Cheryl worked at Chugach Alaska Corporation in Anchorage for the past 17 years, where she was always ready with a smile and eager to help anyone who was in need. Event planning was her passion, especially the Shareholder picnics.

She loved cooking and sharing traditional foods taught to her by her Mother and Grandmother. She also loved sharing stories about her family and growing up in Cordova.

Cheryl is preceded in death by her Mother, Roberta Parsons, and her Maternal Grandmother, Mary Gordaoff.

She is survived by her immediate family including her father, Martin (Skooky) Parsons; daughter Christina Lettich; sister Mimi Christen; brother Martin M. Parsons; her sister-in-law Deanna Parsons; her nieces Danika Christen, Brooke Parsons; her nephews Eric Flatray and Martin & Michael Parsons.

She has many aunts and uncles, including, Elaine Lane of Virginia, Patricia Green of Ketchikan, Rhonda Kelley of Maryland, Keith Gordaoff of Nevada, Laurence Gordaoff of Anchorage, and Alex Gordaoff of Glennallen.

Cheryl has many cousins, friends and acquaintances from the Prince William Sound Region.

She was greatly loved and will be missed dearly by all who knew her. There will be a Celebration of Life at the Legacy Funeral Home in Anchorage, located at 1707 Bragaw St. on Monday, January 23, from 3-5p.m.
