CHS boys finish second at district playoffs

The Cordova Wolverines finished second at the 2A Interior Conference Playoffs in Glennallen on March 9-11. A 68-54 win over Su-Valley in the March 11, Consolation Bracket final also earned them a trip to the State 2A tournament.

Seeded No. 2 going into the playoff, CHS was upset by Su-Valley in their first game on March 9. Cordova lead 26-19 at halftime, but the Rams outscored CHS 22-10 in the last quarter to win 57-46.

Cordova had to get by Effie Kokrine and Nenana to make it to the Consolation finals.   They topped Effie Kokrine 75-58 on Friday and Nenana  68-53 on Saturday morning.

Glennallen, the No.1 seed, won the Conference titles with a first round 59-31 win over Tok, and a 76-55 victory over Su-Valley in the Championship game.

Cordova’s Andrew Muma and Andrew Werner were selected to the Coaches All-Conference team. Glennallen senior Jared Virgin was named Tournament MVP.
