Gov. Bill Walker and his wife, Donna, welcomed Chinese President Xi Jinping and Madame Peng Liyuan to Alaska on April 7, for a brief visit during which they talked trade and the entourage dined on Alaska seafood at the Crow’s Nest on the top floor of the Hotel Captain Cook. The Alaska delegation also included Lt. Gov. Byron Mallott and his wife, Toni. “China is one of our largest trading partners, and I am eager to tell President Xi about the abundance of Alaska’s resource development opportunities,” the governor said.
