Obituary: Regina Elizabeth Clock

November 11, 1929 – May 7, 2017

Lifelong Alaska resident, Regina Elizabeth Clock, 87, passed away Sunday, May 7, 2017 surrounded by family at the Prestige Care Center in Anchorage.

Funeral services were held on May 10 at St Patrick’s Parish in Anchorage, with Father Dan Hebert officiating, and a reception followed. Graveside services were held on Thursday, May 11, at the Angelus Memorial Park Cemetery in Anchorage.

Regina was born November 11, 1929 to Big George and Lizzie Semaken in Kaltag, Alaska, where she was raised. She completed high school and lived in Galena from 1969 to 1971, before moving to Cordova, where she commercial fished from 1974 to 1989. Regina worked for the Civil Service in Anchorage and Galena from 1955 until she retired in 1971. She also worked as a childcare provider in the mid 1970’s through the mid 1990’s and as a personal care attendant. Regina served 19 years with the South Central Elders Council.

Regina enjoyed her life with family and friends all over Alaska, sharing her skills as a knitter, her sewing and bead work, preserving fish, her Christmas ornament crafts and good game of bingo.

“Regina was very kind and caring to others, devoted to her kids and grandchildren, she loved visiting friends and family, cooking for family gatherings and being very independent.”

“She was loving and kind as her parents taught her and she instilled those qualities to her children.”

“She was full of love and kindness and always saw the good in everyone. Regina loved to be around people and was always full of luck when it came to playing bingo. She had the most amazing green thumb and her flower bed was the best around,” shared her children.

Regina was preceded in death by her brothers, Wilfred, Ottie, Burke, Gilbert, Michael, Goodwin, and Matthew Semaken; and sisters, Tassie Esmailka and Monica Alexie.

She is survived by her daughters, Nina Clock (Ralph Beans) of Soldotna, AK, Monica (Stephen) Riedel of Na’alehu, HI and Peggy (James) Hessler of Somerville, TX; sons, Eric (Cindy) Clock of Seward, AK, Joe Turner of Anchorage, AK and Michael Dale of Cordova, AK; grandchildren, Rick,  Lovie, Jasmine, Ben, Anna, William, Diana, Liam, Dwayne, Daniel, Shanna, and Marshall; great-grandchildren, Cheyenne, Dakota, Cyrus, Kiley, Elora, James, Anthony and Ashley.
