Bernie Reed Groves died on Aug. 6, 2017, in Knoxville, Tenn. He was 74.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Marie Groves, of Tennessee., his children, Jason Groves, of Cordova; Dana Morris, of Georgia; and Clinton Groves, of North Carolina.; brothers, Allen Groves, of Tennessee.; Ronnie Groves, of Alabama.; sister, Regina Dobbs, of Alabama; grandchildren, Steven Groves, Natalie Morris and Ryan Morris; and many more, who he openly considered children and grandchildren.
Bernie was many things to many people: a dependable friend, a co-worker who always expected the best you could give, just as he gave, someone you could call on in a time of need and be certain he would answer. To his family, he was all of those things and more, he is our dad or husband. He taught us kindness, respect, responsibility, trying your best, how to stay calm in a situation, and the required curse words for proper car maintenance.
We are missing you in our lives even though you’re still with us in our hearts. We love you.
Visitation and services were held at Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, in Jones, Ala., Aug. 12th.
In lieu of flowers the family would prefer donations on behalf of Bernie Reed Groves to the Wounded Warriors Project.
