The Cape St. Elias Lighthouse, lit in September of 1916, and never having been rebuilt, was unmanned and downgraded to a minor light in the summer of 1974, when it was automated. Cordova photographer Wendy Ranney took this picture on Aug. 18 on the uninhabited island, 62-miles southeast of Cordova.
