The Cordova Times - Cordova students may soon earn AA degree for free
When Jessica Smyke started her Associates of Arts degree in Environmental Studies at Fort Lewis College in Colorado, she was able to complete it by the end of the first semester. How did she do it? As a student at Cordova High School, the young Cordovan had been taking classes that counted towards her college diploma as part of a dual credit program offered through the Prince William Sound Community College (PWSCC). As a result, when Smyke was done with high school in 2009, she had already completed 49 college credits, leaving only three classes needed to get her AA degree.
