With the Copper River gillnet season just a little over a month away, many fishermen in Cordova are wondering what the 2013 season might bring. Will there be a good price paid for king salmon? Most certainly. Will there be a good run of kings? Maybe, you just never know. One thing they do know is that someone is already catching king salmon in the Gulf of Alaska. There is one boat out in the Gulf that has already landed almost one thousand king salmon in the arrowtooth flounder fishery. This fishery is operating without a cap on Chinook salmon bycatch right now.
