Two strong quarters helped Cordova beat Bethel finish fourth at the 3A state girls basketball tournament in Anchorage.

Kelsey Hawley, Marissa Merritt and Olivia Kelly scored most of Cordova’s points. Hawley had 10 points, Merritt 9 and Kelly 8.

Tillie Kaisler and Marilyn Saddler were the top scorers for Bethel, with 8 points apiece.

Bethel led early in the game 6-3, but Cordova turned the tide and took control in the second quarter, when it outscored Bethel 12-6.

Cordova led 18-12 at the half.

The two teams each scored 10 points in the third quarter, but the fourth quarter belonged to Cordova 10-4.

Toward the close of the game, Cordova stretched its lead to 36-22.
