Gel polish manicures are one of the many services offered by Subido. Here, a client’s nails are under LED lights, which cure the new gel polish.

Lures Salon and Spa is located in the heart of downtown Cordova, right in the middle of Main Street. Jamaeca Subido, the onsite nail technician and makeup artist, offers an array of manicures and pedicures for women, men and children.

Subido says she offers nail services that aren’t offered anywhere else in Cordova.
“Clients don’t have to leave town to get a manicure and pedicure – it can be done right here in our hometown,” she said.

The salon has two pedicure chairs and uses products such as Farmhouse Fresh, Alaska Glacial Mud, OPI, China Glaze and Gelish, she said.

Subido, who has a nail technician license and makeup artistry certificate, says she loves every client she works with.

“It’s so much fun to be a part of a bride’s special day, or doing something special for a birthday, or helping someone relax after a stressful day,” Subido said. “I love to hear stories and bond with people. It’s truly a joy to have a woman come out of the salon radiating. A good manicure and pedicure goes a long way. My aim is to have them walk out with pretty nails and toes and with a smile on their face. There is nothing more fulfilling then seeing a client’s demeanor change.”

Subido also offers professional makeup sessions for special occasions, such as weddings, proms and birthdays.

Makeup has the power to change a person’s personal outlook, Subdio says.

“Confidence is a powerful thing,” she said. “I love being able to show people just how beautiful they are. Everyone has beauty and people often forget that. A touch of makeup is often all it takes for someone to see their own beauty. These small additions allow them to walk through the world with their head held high.”

Lures is open Monday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. In addition to Subido, the team consists of hair stylists Jenny Bailey and Kayley Babic, and esthetician Erin Stoermer. Boots Roemhildt, Lures’ owner, is also a certified oncology esthetician, and Megan Reggiani is the summer receptionist.
