On Saturday, San Francisco-band Front Country will take the stage at the Cordova Center.
The progressive bluegrass group has been in town teaching at the 4H Music Camp this week. The concert starts at 7:30 p.m.

The musicians had humble beginnings in 2011 as friends getting together to play bluegrass in San Francisco’s Mission District, according to its website, but has since toured worldwide.
“Front Country’s dynamic instrumental textures take flight with grace and gravitas while rooted in the relentlessly soulful vocals of lead singer-songwriter Melody Walker,” the website says.

Mandolinist Adam Roszkiewicz, guitarist Jacob Groopman, bassist Jeremy Darrow, and fiddler Leif Karlstrom round out the quintet.

The band is currently running a Kickstarter campaign to raise money for its second full-length studio album release.

“Front Country is finally making and releasing our second full-length studio album,” the Kickstarter page says. “It is turning out to be the coolest thing any of us have ever been involved in, and we are super grateful for the opportunity to play music together around the world and to get to create original art in the studio.”

Tickets cost $15 for adults, $5 for children (under age 6 are free) and $40 for families.
And if you can’t make the Saturday concert, at 6 p.m. tonight the music camp offers a student concert in the Mt. Eccles gym. For more information, visit BluegrassCampsforKids.com.
