Law & Order: Aug. 19-25

The following incidents were reported to the Cordova Police Department between 8-19-16 thru 8-25-16. Any charges reported in these press releases are merely accusations and the defendant and/or defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of Law.

AUGUST 19, Friday: 

5:25 a.m. Caller reported a domestic incident and needed an officer. Officer responded and Gery Thorne, age 31, of Cordova was arrested for DV assault. 5:46 a.m. Caller reporting a vessel was sitting very low in the water and might be sinking. Harbormaster contacted.

AUGUST 20, Saturday: 

12:10 Caller reported an individual may have had a stroke. Ambulance responded and transported patient to the hospital. 4:07 p.m. Caller reported a drunk individual had got on his boat and was being a menace and trying to fight him. Individual left the boat while the caller was still on phone with dispatch. 5:26 p.m. Two individuals came into the station to reported an intoxicated individual laying on the ground behind a building. Officer responded and spoke with the individual who stated he was just trying to sober up.

AUGUST 21, Sunday:

5:02 p.m. Caller reported having trouble with another boat using their tie off cleat at the harbor. Responsible parties were notified and took care of the situation. 10:09 p.m. Caller reported that someone had choked him out and is threatening him on a boat. Alaska Wildlife Troopers responded.

AUGUST 22, Monday: 

11:38 a.m. Caller reported that his landlord keeps harassing him and will not leave his house when he asks her to along with his neighbor. Officer spoke with the complainant and determined that there was no crime. 3:16 p.m. Received a report that an individual had been sexually assaulted. Kenneth Eleshansky, age 28, of Cordova AK, was arrested for sexual assault in the 2nd degree and furnishing alcohol to persons under the age of 21. The incident is still under investigation. 10:43 p.m. Individual reported that their neighbor is harassing them at their home. The incident is under investigation.

AUGUST 23, Tuesday: 

12:00 a.m. Caller reported that someone had entered that arctic entry of their apartment. Officer responded but the suspect was no longer there.

AUGUST 24, Wednesday: 

10:23 a.m. Individual came to station to request an officer stand by why they serve civil papers. Officer accompanied individual with no incident.

AUGUST 25, Thursday:

1:03 a.m. Caller requested that an officer patrol their neighborhood because there may be someone in their yard. Officer responded and patrolled the area and determined there was nothing suspicious going on.

NOTES FROM CORDOVA DMV: 

DMV HOURS: Tuesday – Thurs from 8am to 3:30pm unless otherwise posted. Motorcycle testing is still available, weather permitting. DMV has moved to 602 Railroad Ave. Payments now accepted for dog licenses, ATV/snow machine registrations, citations.
