Advice offered on applying for RTP grants

Teleconferences to assist applicants for Recreational Trails Program grants will be offered by the Alaska Department of Natural Resources on Sept. 15 and Sept. 27, on both occasions from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

To join in, dial 1-866-918-8374 and enter conference code 5569714090.

The RTP program offers reimbursable matching funds to develop and maintain trails and trail-related facilities and projects.

Teleconference topics will include program guidelines, restrictions, eligibility and deadlines, applicable federal regulations, and reporting and billing requirements.

Also included will be information on what constitutes a successful application, the role of the Outdoor Recreational Trails Advisory Board, how to put together a successful budget and create a feasible schedule, and how to know if you need to fill out an environmental review check list.

Anyone interested in applying for an RTP grant who is unable to join a teleconference may contact Darcy Harris at darcy.harris@alaska.gov or call 1-907-269-8699 any time before the Nov. 1 grant application deadline.
