Sound Alternatives’ care providers hosted a community open house Jan. 6, in their offices at the Cordova Community Medical Center, for the public to visit and ask questions of the clinicians and staff, and socialize.
Homemade appetizers, desserts, and beverages were served.
Sound Alternatives is a behavioral health and developmental disabilities clinic operating within the Cordova Community Medical Center.
“Sound Alternatives began as a result of the rising need for mental health and substance abuse services for these underserved populations in 1976,” said Dr. Stephen Sundby, executive director of the clinic.
Sound Alternatives’ staff members hold an annual community-wide open house to allow access to their facilities and to provide information about behavioral health services for mental health and substance abuse disorders, and developmental disabilities services that are available in the community.
“Sound Alternatives is committed to providing quality behavioral health and developmental disabilities care for adults and youth from the community,” Sundby said.
Clinicians are available 24 hours a day for emergencies or for assessment, crisis intervention and referrals.
For more information, call Sound Alternatives at 424-8300 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., or 424-8000, after hours or on holidays.
