Law & Order

The following incidents were reported to the Cordova Police Department between 4-14-17 thru 4-20-17. Any charges reported in these press releases are merely accusations and the defendant and/or defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

APRIL 14, Friday:
2:12 a.m. Caller reported a truck blasting music at 5 Mile Loop Road. Officer responded contacting the driver and gave them a warning. 9:42 a.m. Caller reported an alarm going off at Ilanka Cultural Center. Officer responded finding workers were in the building. 6:21 p.m. Caller reported a man is standing on a wooden deck waving his arms yelling for help. Officer responded finding all to be well.

APRIL 15, Saturday:
12:23 p.m. Caller reported an ATV speeding down the road with no flag. Officer responded unable to locate the ATV. 1:25 p.m. Caller requested an ambulance for a medical transport to the airport. Ambulance responded and transported patient.

APRIL 16, Sunday:
12:01 a.m. Caller requested an officer respond for two people fighting and not leaving when asked to. Officer responded and started a case file for Assault 4. 12:11 p.m. Caller reported she heard an explosion in her living room. Officer responded and found the noise came from a neighbor cutting down trees. 12:11 p.m. Caller requested an ambulance to transport him to the hospital because he had stepped off the curb at a bad angle and injured his knee. Ambulance responded and transported patient to the hospital. 1:40 p.m. Dispatch received a fire alarm. Fire department responded and was determined it was just a water alarm.

APRIL 17, Monday:
2:55 p.m. Caller reported two sealed metal drums with hazmat stickers on them at the burn pile. Fire Officer responded to the scene. 2:59 p.m. Caller requested a welfare check on an elderly lady who is on her route because she did not answer the door. Officer responded finding the callers friend watching tv. 3:58 p.m. Caller requested an ambulance for her friend is diabetic and was not speaking normally. Ambulance responded transporting the patient to CCMC.

APRIL 18, Tuesday:
8:25 p.m. Caller requested assistance on a vessel that broke down in a bay two miles out of Whittier and did not have any radios that worked. USCG was called and updated on the situation. The caller called back reported the boat is back up and going.

Nothing to report.

NOTES FROM CORDOVA DMV:
DMV HOURS: Tuesday – Thurs from 8am to 3:00pm unless otherwise posted. Motorcycle testing is still available, weather permitting. DMV has moved to 602 Railroad Ave. Payments now accepted for dog licenses, ATV/snow machine registrations, citations.
