Chocolate Friend’zy

Friends of the Cordova Public Library is holding a Cordova teacher appreciation event from 4 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. May 12. Tickets are $20 for a four-flight sample of chocolate and a wine pairing. All proceeds benefit Friends of the Library.

Classical performance

Classical guitarist Jurgen Ogrodnik will be performing at 7 p.m. May 12 at the North Star Theatre.  Tickets are $20 for adults, and $8 for students and seniors.

 

Hamburger mania!

AC Value Center and Cordova Basketball present Hamburger Mania from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 13 at AC Value Center. Proceeds help fund the Cordova Basketball trip to Utah this summer.

 

Science Center talks

Erin Cole of the U.S. Forest Service will talk about each of the 16 cabins hosted by the Cordova Ranger District that are open year-round to public use. Find out what you can see and do at each location and learn how to reserve and travel to each cabin site.  7 p.m. Tuesday, May 16 at the U.S. Forest Service office.

 

Story time for little ones

Story time is 11 a.m. Wednesdays at the Cordova Public Library. Read stories, play with puppets and do a simple craft. All ages are welcome but caregivers need to attend as well.

 

CDFU annual meeting

Area E fishermen are invited to join CDFU staff and board members for their 2017 CDFU Annual Meeting from noon to 2 p.m. Friday, May 19 at the Cordova Center. Lunch and beverages will be provided. First Fish fundraiser

The 4th annual First Fish Art Show opening reception is scheduled from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. June 2 at Snow City Café in Anchorage. The event is hosted by The Eyak Foundation and raises funds for scholarships and Eyak cultural events. The show will display for one month.

 

Plastics recycling

The next plastic recycling event is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, June 9 at the AC Value Center parking lot. For more information on how to volunteer, contact Shae Bowman at the Copper River Watershed Project at shae@copperriver.org or call 907-424-3334.

 

F/V drill conductor workshop

All mariners are welcome to attend a second marine safety training class from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, June 17 at the Cordova Center Education Room. The class is free to all commercial fishermen and crew through USCG and NIOSH support and $175 for all others. Register online at www.amsea.org/dc-registration-form or call 907-747-3287.
