Walker promotes LNG with Korea

Gov. Bill Walker is moving to strengthen trade relations with Korea through talks with Republic of Korea President Moon Jae-in.

Walker, who was in Washington D.C. to participate in energy roundtable discussions at the White House, said he told Moon and his team of numerous ways an Alaska liquefied natural gas project could bring mutual benefits to Alaska and Korea.

“Korea as been one of the largest consumers of Alaska’s coal, timber and fish,” Walker said. “President Moon said he would like to add LNG to the list of imports, and offered his government’s support of the Alaska LNG project.”

Walker said he was pleased to hear Moon say LNG will play a very important role in helping Korea combat climate change.
