Get your costumes ready! Kids of all ages have a host of events to choose from now through Halloween in Cordova. We’ve compiled the highlights with some help from the Cordova Chamber of Commerce.
Bat Cave will be open 1-5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27 at the U.S. Forest Service District Office. Free and open to all ages. Bat cave exhibit, games and prizes, crafts, and sweet treats.
Harry Potter’s World art show
Harry Potter’s World: Renaissance Science, Magic and Medicine art show opens 4-6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27 at the Copper River Gallery. Free, all ages welcome. Enjoy food, butterbeer, wand duels and hair glitter by the Sparkle Sisters. Costumes are encouraged.
Harry Potter movie marathon
A Harry Potter movie marathon will be Friday, Oct. 27 through Sunday, Oct. 29. Donations are accepted or purchase Hogwarts’ Express Ticket for admission to all movies and a chance to win prizes. $40 for Muggles (adults), $30 for Young Wizards (school students).
The movie times are: Sorcerer’s Stone at 7 p.m. Oct. 27; Chamber of Secrets at 11 a.m. Oct. 28; Prisoner of Azkaban at 2 p.m. Oct. 28; Goblet of Fire at 5 p.m. Oct. 28; Order of the Phoenix at 8 p.m. Oct. 28; Half Blood Prince at noon Oct. 29; Deathly Hallows Part 1 at 3 p.m. Oct. 29; Deathly Hallows Part 2 at 6 p.m. Oct. 29. Proceeds will support Cordova Public Library, Cordova Volunteer Fire Department, Cordova High School Music Department, Cordova Community Medical Center and Auxiliary.
Girls on the Run Costume 5K & Spooky Fun
10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28 at the Masonic Lodge. Registration fee is $10 for runners ages 15 and up. All ages welcome. Run or walk, come join in the fun in costume. Race is 10 a.m. to noon. Halloween games and activities are noon to 3 p.m.
The Monster Mash
Moster Mash will be Saturday, Oct. 28 at Bidarki Recreation Center. Grades sixth through eighth from 7-9 p.m. Grades ninth-12 from 10 p.m. to midnight. Cost is $3, benefits Current Rhythms Dance Company. Costume contest, concessions, hauntings throughout the night and more suprises.
Haunted Ship will be held from 6-9 p.m. Monday, Oct. 30 at the US Coast Guard Sycamore station. All ages welcome, the haunting will be more kid-friendly from 6-7 p.m. Event will include walking and stairs, please dress for the weather and bring your identification. Free, canned food donations for the food bank welcome.
Trick or Treat at FNBA
Trick or treat from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 31 at First National Bank Alaska. All ages are welcome. Free. Come in costume and get a treat!
Trick or Treat at Wells Fargo
Trick or treat from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 31 at Wells Fargo. All ages are welcome. Free. Come in costume and get a treat!
Trick or Treat at GCI
Trick or treat from noon to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 31 at the GCI office. All ages are welcome. Free. Come to GCI for dreadfully delicious nachos, terrifying treats and jack-o-lantern juice before a night of trick-or-treating!
Trick or Treat at Steen’s Gifts
Trick or treat from noon to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 31 at Steen’s Gifts. All ages are welcome. Free. Come show off your costume and get a sweet treat.
NVE Trick or Treat
Trick or treat from 3 p.m.-5 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 31 at Native Village of Eyak main office. Ages 18 and younger. Free. Fun decorations to look at, trick or treating at each office, plus vote on a favorite jack o’ lantern.

Trick or treat from 3 p.m.-5 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 31 at Cordova Telephone Coop. All ages welcome. Free. Come in costume and get a treat!

Trick or Treat for Booooks!
Trick or treat for books from 4 p.m.-6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 31 at Cordova Public Library Education Room. PreK through teen ages welcome. Sponsored by Friends of the Cordova Public Library.
Fire Department Halloween
Fire Department Halloween will be from 5 p.m.-6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 31 at the Fire Station. All ages are welcome. Free. Visit the Fire Station for a treat bag and a ride on a fire engine.
Fall Festival will be from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 31 at the Christian Center/HomePort. All ages are welcome. Free. Fun games and activities, free hot dogs and hot chocolate and free family photos.
CCMC Halloween Treatfest
Halloween Treatfest will be 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 31 at Cordova Community Medical Center’s main reception area. Ages 1 through 12 are welcome. Free. Celebrate Halloween with our seniors and enjoy festivities.
B.I.O.N.I.C. Halloween Selfie Scavenger Hunt
B.I.O.N.I.C. Halloween Selfie Scavenger Hunt for teens will be 5:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 31 starting at the Cordova Center. Free. Scavenger hunt lists will be distributed and teams will be selected at Cordova Center. First, second and third place finishers will receive prizes.
