Reassessment of Alaska cod fishery underway

Comment is being sought through Nov. 30 from registered stakeholders on the Alaska RFM certification draft assessment report for re-certification of the Alaska cod fishery through the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute.

All registered stakeholders were to receive a copy of the responsible fisheries management report from the certification body, DNV GL, an international accredited registrar and classification society headquartered near Oslo, Norway.

All registered stakeholders are invited to comment on the factual contents of the report, either in relation to the specific sections of the report or specific evaluation parameters.

Comments should be clearly related to specific report sections or evaluation parameters, and any recommendations or criticisms should be supported with data or literature citations so the assessment team is able to evaluate those comments.

After receipt of comments from registered stakeholders, DNV GL will consider all available information and make a determination on whether the fishery should be recertified.
