Law & Order: Nov. 17-23

The following incidents were reported to the Cordova Police Department between 11-17-17 thru 11-23-17. Any charges reported in these press releases are merely accusations and the defendant and/or defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.                        

NOVEMBER 17, Friday:

9:12 a.m. Caller reported that their tractor had been started and driven around the previous night, and that it appeared that someone tried to enter other vehicles. Investigation is ongoing.

NOVEMBER 18, Saturday:

12:49 p.m. Caller reported a small black bear in her yard and later ran off without any problem, but wanted to report it.

NOVEMBER 19, Sunday:

8:03 p.m. An individual came to the station to speak with an officer. Officer spoke with individual and gave ride to the hospital then provided her a ride home.

NOVEMBER 20, Monday:

Nothing to report.

NOVEMBER 21, Tuesday:

4:34 p.m. Officer assisted motorist while they were trying to get their car started. 8:19 p.m. Caller reported hearing four loud booms around 4th and Davis St. Officer responded and found nothing unusual in the area. 8:21 p.m. Caller requested assistance. Ambulance responded and transported individual to the hospital.

NOVEMBER 22, Wednesday:

12:10 p.m. Caller requested several individuals be trespassed from an apartment complex. Officer trespassed one individual today. 4:38 p.m. Caller reported a neighbor’s door is open and he is out of town. Officer spoke with owner who had come back to town. 4:49 p.m. A tote with camping gear was found by an officer out the road and brought to the station. Later an individual came in and claimed his belongings.

NOVEMBER 23, Thursday:

2:31 a.m. Caller reported a suspicious vehicle was parked on the Marina Road. Officer responded but did not see the vehicle.

Notice 1 of 4:

On 9/20/2017, Cordova Police impounded an unmarked/unregistered boat trailer with seine net with no known owner at 100 First Street, Cordova, Alaska, as it was abandoned on private property. Unless within fifteen days after the date of the notice (8/28/17), either: (a) the vehicle is removed and stored in a lawful manner, or (b) a person with an interest in the vehicle requests a hearing under Section 10.54.060, the city may without further notice impound and dispose of the vehicle by sale, destruction or other disposition authorized by law.

NOTES FROM CORDOVA DMV:

DMV HOURS: 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday unless otherwise posted. Motorcycle testing is still available, weather permitting. DMV has moved to 602 Railroad Ave.  Payments now accepted for dog licenses, ATV/snow machine registrations and citations.
