Cordova High School senior Gretchen Shellhorn and freshmen Michael Mathhues were crowned homecoming queen and king at halftime ceremonies during the homecoming basketball game on Saturday.

The two students were chosen in balloting by students in grades nine through 12 at the high school.

Gretchen is the senior class president and was recently chosen the Elks’ Student of the Quarter. She has been the basketball team manager for the past four years.

Michael has taken an active role at the high school in both the wrestling and swimming programs.

Also running for the homecoming honors were freshman Elizabeth Sanders, sophomores Robin Lohse and Russel Folton, juniors Kate Schultz and Shaun McCune and senior Gerald McCune.

Nominees for king and queen were selected at meetings held for students of each grade level.
