In-season adjustment announced for Gulf Pollock, cod TACs

Federal fisheries officials say they are adjusting the 2018 total allowable catch amounts for Gulf of Alaska Pollock and Pacific cod fisheries because the TACs are incorrectly specified.

The announcement from the National Marine Fisheries Service was posted on Dec. 20 in the Federal Register, with NMFS saying the agency wants to ensure that the Gulf Pollock and P-cod TACs are in the appropriate amounts based on best available scientific information for those species in the Gulf under the fishery management plan for groundfish in the Gulf.

NMFS is accepting comment on its action through Jan. 4.
