“I could see this amazing sunrise developing over 45 minutes, unfolding in glorious shades of reds, yellows and oranges against a robin egg blue sky. It was a beautiful start to the day.” The Winter Solstice sunrise scene near the Copper River Highway pavilion overlooking the Merle K. “Mudhole” Smith airport was captured around 9 a.m. Dec. 21.
