Lady W’s show steady improvement at tournament

Cordova’s young Lady Wolverines showed steady improvement at the Rally the Regions Hardwood Classic in Anchorage on Dec. 26-30.

Playing four games in four days against 2A schools from all over Alaska, plus a pair of JV squads from large Anchorage-area schools, the CHS team generated more offense as the tournament went on.

On Dec. 28, Craig edged Cordova 40-30. Edrea Navarro had 11 points, while Bourgeois added 8.

Unalakleet topped Cordova 59-49 in a high-scoring Dec. 29 matchup. Despite the loss, it was the most points racked up by the Lady Wolverines so far this season. Bourgeois and Martinez were in double digits for CHS, with 13 and 12 points respectively.

Dec. 30, was a big day for the Lady W’s, as they rambled past the Chugiak JV’s by a lopsided 38-17 final. It was the first win of the season for a team that does not have a single senior on its roster.
