Auditions for “Arsenic & Old Lace”

Stage of the Tide is hosting auditions for their upcoming comedy performance “Arsenic & Old Lace.” Roles are available for teens and adults. Auditions will take place 5-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16 and Thursday, Jan. 18 in Community Room A of the Cordova Center. The final performance will be March 2-3 at the North Star Theatre in Cordova. “The Wardens” musical event

The Cordova Arts & Pageants presents “The Wardens” at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 18 at the North Star Theatre in Cordova. The group will perform original music and tell stories from their time protecting grizzly bears, rescuing stranded hikers and lonely nights on the packtrail in Canada’s mountain national parks.

 

Prince William Sound Science Center’s Sea Squirts Program

The PWSSC’s Sea Squirts program provides hands-on snow science to children, ages 3-5, for their January program. The program will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 18 at the Cordova Center Education Room.

Cordova Families for Social Justice March/Women’s March 2.0

The Social Justice and Women’s March will take place from 9:45 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, gathering at the Cordova Center Atrium. There will be an assembly between Fireweed Graphics and Wells Fargo until 10:30 a.m. featuring a short chant and blessing. Join the Facebook group for more information on the event.

 

Cordova Historical Museum Monthly Program

The Cordova Historical Museum will present “The history of bowling in Cordova” as its monthly program. The presentation begins at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 22 at the Copper River Gallery.

 

Ilanka membership drive dinner and Native fashion show

Ilanka Cultural Center’s Membership Drive Dinner will be from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24 at the Cordova Center. The event will include a fashion show featuring traditional Alaska Native fashion and a teddy bear silent auction. Tickets are $25 and include a one-year membership to Ilanka Cultural Center, traditional foods, Native fashion show and Ikumat dance performance. Winter White at Copper River Gallery

Gallery show “Winter White” featuring all local artists continues at The Copper River Gallery in the Cordova Center. The Cordova Museum is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and noon to 5 p.m. Saturdays.

 

Al-Anon returns to Cordova

Al-Anon meetings for friends and family of alcoholics will meet Monday nights at 7 p.m. at the Wellness Center (old DMV office). For more information, contact Katie at 907-965-5909.

 

Food pantry services

The Little Chapel is administering Salvation Army extension food pantry services. People needing assistance can pick up food on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The Little Chapel. In an emergency at other times, call the Little Chapel at 907-424-3629. Native Village of Eyak administers food distribution on behalf of the Food Bank of Alaska.
