Law & Order: Dec. 29-Jan. 11, 2018

Editor’s note: Last week’s police report was not available at press time. This week’s edition includes both weeks.

The following incidents were reported to the Cordova Police Department between 12-29-17 thru 1-11-18. Any charges reported in these press releases are merely accusations and the defendant and/or defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

                        

DECEMBER 29, Friday:

Nothing to report.

 

DECEMBER 30, Saturday:

11:00 a.m. Received report of a 20-foot blue and silver Duckworth skiff that was reported overdue at 11:33 p.m. Alaska time on Dec. 29, 2017 with last know location of Rocky Bay at North Montague. Vessel had three passengers on board. On Jan. 2, all parties were located by the U.S. Coast Guard and assisted to Whittier.

DECEMBER 31, Sunday:

5:26 p.m. Caller stated that he had just got in town and found an individual on the floor in the bathroom with a black eye, not responsive, but was able to move his eyes and was breathing. Officer and ambulance responded and patient was transported to the hospital. 6:20 p.m. Caller reported a fire alarm sounding in a building. Officer and fire department responded and found only a broken water pipe.

 

JANUARY 1, Monday:

1:23 a.m. Caller reported his wife had left the bar and walked home but had yet to show up. Officer patrolled area unable to locate the wife. Later that morning caller reported she was lost and attempting to get home. Officer responded transporting the caller back to her home.

 

JANUARY 2, Tuesday:

Nothing to report.

 

JANUARY 3, Wednesday:

10:57 a.m. Individual reported a Motor Vehicle Accident occurred at his residence. Officer responded and conducted an investigation.

 

JANUARY 4, Thursday:

10:37 a.m. Caller reported an oil spill running downhill to Railroad Ave. Responsible parties were advised and cleaned the oil spill. 11:37 p.m. Caller reported loud music coming from a residence. Officer responded requesting the responsible party turn the music down.

 

JANUARY 5, Friday:

10:29 a.m. Caller reported Debit Card Fraud. Officer responded investigating the crime. 5 p.m. Caller reported he is receiving threatening text messages from an individual. Officer spoke with all parties regarding the situation.

 

JANUARY 6, Saturday:

Nothing to report.

 

JANUARY 7, Sunday:

12:13 a.m. Caller requested an ambulance for a man who had fallen and could not get up. Ambulance responded transporting the patient to CCMC.

 

JANUARY 8, Monday:

Nothing to report.

 

JANUARY 9, Tuesday:

Nothing to report.

 

JANUARY 10, Wednesday:

1:11 Caller requested assistance for removing an intoxicated person from their residence. Officer responded finding the suspect had already left.

 

JANUARY 11, Thursday:

Nothing to report.

 

Notice of Public Sale: February 2018 Police Miscellaneous Auction

 

Place bid form and check for deposit (10% of bid) in a standard letter envelope and write ‘February 2018 Police Miscellaneous Auction’ on the front and seal it. No minimums set; please consider fair market value. Sealed bids due at the front desk of City Hall by 9:00 am on Friday February 9, 2018. Bids will be opened at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 9, 2018 in the office of the City Clerk, City Hall, 601 First Street, Cordova, AK. Successful bidders will be required to pay the balance of their bid at the Police Department, 602 Railroad Avenue, Cordova, AK and pick up their paperwork no later than Monday, February 12, 2018 at 3:00 pm and to collect/remove their purchase(s) from city property no later than Wednesday, February 14, 2018. Successful bidders on any weapon must pass a background check prior to picking up the weapon. Successful bidders who intend to recycle their purchased vehicles will be eligible for a voucher for free disposal of the properly prepared vehicle at the City Landfill. Property Prepared Vehicle means a vehicle that has ALL fluids drained and the batteries removed.

NOTES FROM CORDOVA DMV:

DMV HOURS: 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday unless otherwise posted. Motorcycle testing is still available, weather permitting. DMV has moved to 602 Railroad Ave. Payments now accepted for dog licenses, ATV/snow machine registrations and citations.
