At Your Library: Gaining daylight, but still time to watch movies

DVDs on the shelf

The Cordova Public Library shelves are full of not only the bestsellers you want to read, but also some great movies and TV shows. Pop that popcorn and grab a blanket and your sweetie and watch a classic!

Recent additions to the DVD shelves include the following:

Fringe (SciFi) Detective Television Drama Series. Complete set of the first five seasons.

Lost in Space (1966/1967); Classic SciFi Television Series. Season 2, Vol. 2. 14 episodes.

SciFi Classics Collections. Too many to list, but a few of the highlights are:

Blood Tide (1982). An ancient monster is roused by a Shakespeare-quoting treasure hunter in Greece.

Brain Machine (1977) Several people volunteer for a scientific experiment about mind-reading and memory, but the experiment goes horribly wrong.

Prehistoric Women (1950). Female cave dwellers set out to capture the finest primitive men the Stone Age has to offer.

The Snow Creature (1954). A Himalayan Yeti brought to Los Angeles escapes and runs amok, seeking food.

First spaceship on Venus (1960) International astronauts go to Venus and find remnants of a race that destroyed itself.

Or how about one of these All-time classics:

The Beloved Rogue (1927). Adventure, drama, history. Francois Villon, in his lifetime was the most renowned poet in France, also a prankster, an occasional criminal, and an ardent patriot.

Captain Scarface (1953) Thriller/Drama. A man desperate to leave South America books passage on a freighter and learns that the captain has made plans to force a scientist to participate in a mission of destruction.

Under the Red Robe (1937). Adventure, romance. Cardinal Richelieu spares the life of a convicted duelist (Veidt) provided he will capture the leader of the Hugenots.

 

The Cordova Public Library is open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday – Thursday

10 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday; Noon – 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
