Law & Order: Jan. 19-25, 2018

The following incidents were reported to the Cordova Police Department between 1-19-18 thru 1-25-18. Any charges reported in these press releases are merely accusations and the defendant and/or defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.                        

JANUARY 19, Friday:

12:32 a.m. Caller reported a fire alarm at the Trident Seafoods Bunkhouse. Fire Department responded finding the alarm to be false. 1:05 a.m. Caller reported receiving threatening text messages. Officer spoke with all parties investigating the situation.

JANUARY 20, Saturday:

Nothing to report.

JANUARY 21, Sunday:

8:19 a.m. Caller reported a civil matter regarding purchasing firewood and was never delivered. Officer spoke to all parties finding the situation to be a civil matter. 11:06 a.m. Caller reported someone broke into his house and was threatening him and his mother. Officer responded finding the person was just there to pick up the caller’s mother. Upon investigation, the officer found the caller to be extremely intoxicated and confused finding no crime was committed.

JANUARY 22, Monday:

12:06 a.m. Caller requested an ambulance for a woman with severe abdominal pain. Ambulance responded transporting the patient to CCMC. 1:27 a.m. Caller reported earlier in the night he heard people climbing on his fire escape and when investigating he found people on his roof. When an officer arrived, the suspects were gone. 7:34 a.m. Caller reported that the previous night he was assaulted by a man. Officer spoke with all parties investigating the situation.

JANUARY 23, Tuesday:

12:44 a.m. Dispatch received information of an earthquake that would cause a tsunami. An evacuation was put in effect. At 3:40 a.m. the all clear was issued by the Tsunami Warning Center. 8:51 p.m. Richard Kompkoff, age 51 of Cordova Alaska, was arrested for Assault 2 and Theft 3.

JANUARY 24, Wednesday:

Nothing to report.

JANUARY 25, Thursday:

11:23 a.m. Caller reported her vehicle lost traction and slid near the edge of a cliff. Fire Department responded pulling the vehicle to safety.

NOTES FROM CORDOVA DMV:

DMV HOURS: 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday unless otherwise posted. Motorcycle testing is still available, weather permitting. DMV has moved to 602 Railroad Ave.  Payments now accepted for dog licenses, ATV/snow machine registrations and citations.
