The Prince William Sound Science Center’s Sea Squirts education program focused on hearts for their Feb. 20 monthly program.
More than 20 children, ages 3 to 5, gathered at the Cordova Center Education Room to learn about hearts through educational discussions, demonstrations and desserts.
Education Specialist Stefanie Tschappat started the morning off with a conversation about the location and functions of the heart before reading a book to the children.
After the story, participants split into groups to do hands-on, theme-based activities that the PWSSC staff had prepared.
By the end of the program, the children had learned that their hearts don’t just love, but also pump oxygenated blood around their bodies.
