Lady Wolverines finish regular season with sweep at SuValley

Cordova’s Lady Wolverines finished the regular season with a sweep of conference opponent SuValley on March 2-3.  CHS topped the Rams 36-17 and 52-18 on their home court, to finish the season with 11 wins and 11 losses.

Stifling defense keyed the Cordova wins.  The Lady Wolverines held SuValley to 2 points in the first half on Friday, and 3 points in the first quarter Saturday.  CHS led 18-2 at halftime in the first game, and 26-8 at halftime in the second game.

Abby Bourgeois and Inga Arvidson led Cordova with 8 points apiece in the first game.  The Vargas sisters, Samantha and Andrea, each had 15 points for Cordova in the rematch.

Cordova will enter the double-elimination Conference Playoffs in Nenana on March 8-10 with a 6-4 record in league play.  With sweeps of Effie Kokrine, Tok, and SuValley, the Lady Wolverines will likely be seeded No.3 in the tournament, with Glennallen and Nenana the top two ranked teams.C
