Obituary: Randy Dean Barnes

Born in Eureka, California, Randy lived close to Trinidad until he was 8 years old when he moved to Cordova in May 1963 with his family.

He was involved in the commercial fishing industry, obtaining his first 22-foot open skiff powered by a 40 hp outboard motor at 12 years of age. He owned several vessels throughout his life and many will recall his F/V Sunrise that Randy was especially fond of. In recent years, his health waned, and in the fall of 2016 he moved to Redmond, OR, where he lived until his passing. He is survived by mother Wanda Barnes, brother and sister in-law Gary and Larue Barnes, brother Stephen Barnes, nieces Sea’na and Taylor Barnes, and aunt Donna Riggs.

There will be a remembrance celebration this summer in Cordova. Randy’s ashes will be scattered at his favorite fishing spots in Prince William Sound.
