ABC Board gets House approval through 2022

House Bill 299, extending the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board to June 20, 2022 has been approved by the House and sent to the State Senate for consideration.

ABC Board activities were reviewed recently by the Alaska Division of Legislative Audit, which found that the board was effectively serving the public interest. The audit concluded, however, that the board should improve its procedures for issuing renewals, recreational site licenses and beverage dispensary licenses that encourage tourism.

Rep. Adam Wool, D-Fairbanks, the bill’s sponsor, said he was confident that recommendations from the audit would be swiftly implemented, and that he was hopeful for passage of the bill, so their work could continue unencumbered.
