Movie night: “Black Panther”

The Cordova Arts & Pageants presents “Black Panther” at 7 p.m. Friday, May 25 at North Star Theatre in the Cordova Center.

Plastic Recycling Event

The Copper River Watershed Project and AC Value Center are teaming up to host a plastic recycling event from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, May 25 at the AC parking lot. Movie night: “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle”

The Cordova Public Library presents, “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle”, with showings at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m., on Saturday, May 26 at North Star Theatre, in celebration of the end of the school year.

Summer night skeet and trap shoots

The Cordova Trap & Gun Club is adding summer night skeet and trap shoots again, every Thursday from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Cordova Public Shooting Range clubhouse. Members and non-members of all skill levels welcome. Bring something for the grill or to share. Cancelations may occur due to extreme weather. Bird-in-Hand and The Painted Bird at Copper River Gallery

The gallery features more than 130 hand-knit birds and the walls are lined with art created by Cordovans, other Alaskans, and more, on exhibit through May. All works of art are for sale and a portion of sales benefit the museum exhibits and galleries. The Cordova Museum is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and noon to 5 p.m. Saturdays.

Moms, Pops and Tots!

This play group is open for children newborn to 4 years old and will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Mondays (throughout the school year) at the Masonic Lodge. The group focuses on exploring developmental issues and building on each child’s strengths through large-motor skills play, small-motor skills play, pretend play and sensory play. Al-Anon returns to Cordova

Al-Anon for friends and family of alcoholics meets Monday nights at 7 p.m. at the Wellness Center (old DMV office). For more information, contact Katie at 907-965-5909.

Food pantry services

The Little Chapel is administering Salvation Army extension food pantry services. People needing assistance can pick up food on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The Little Chapel. In an emergency at other times, call the Little Chapel at 907-424-3629. Native Village of Eyak administers food distribution on behalf of the Food Bank of Alaska.
