Beloved husband, father and grandfather. Henry Makarka of Wasilla was born June 7, 1930 and died May 19, 2018. He was 87 years old. Henry was born in Cordova, Alaska where he spent most of his life. His main occupation was fishing in Prince William Sound.
He leaves behind his wife, Jackie, of 56 years. Also, six stepchildren whom he helped raise. Alan (Jane), Paul (Ila), Joe Jensen, Dianne Johnson (Charlie), Gail Frisbie and Laurie Wagner (Herb), also 7 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
He leaves behind a brother, Stanley, of Cordova and a sister Jessie Tiedeman of Tatitlek, and many nieces and nephews. He was a member of the Chugach Alaska Corporation and his favorite place to be was Nuchek, a camp for young people to learn about their Native heritage. We are looking forward to seeing Henry again in the resurrection.
