A 13-year-old boy from Chenega was medevaced to Anchorage by the Coast Guard on June 2 after falling 18 feet aboard a fishing vessel and showing symptoms of a seizure.

A Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew, forward deployed to Cordova, medevaced the boy from the 58-foot Golden Pacific, after an EMT on board the fishing vessel had assessed the patient and requested higher care. Sector Anchorage watchstanders then directed the launch of the helicopter from Cordova and diverted the Golden Pacific to Chenga.
