Alaska Board of Fisheries adds Pacific cod meeting

The Alaska Board of Fisheries has rescheduled its October work session and added a new meeting to address Pacific cod proposals, in order to take up the matter on Oct. 3, prior to the fishing season.

The revised meeting schedule for the 2018/2019 board sessions now begins a work session Oct. 15-16 at the Egan Center in Anchorage. The comment deadline is Oct. 3.

Alaska Peninsula, Chignik, Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands Pacific cod issues are on the agenda at the Egan Center Oct. 18-19. Comments are also due by Oct. 3.

At the Dillingham Middle School Nov. 28-Dec. 4, the focus will be on Bristol Bay finfish.

Comments are due by Nov. 14.

Arctic, Yukon and Kuskokwim finfish issues will be discussed Jan. 15-19 at the Sheraton Hotel in Anchorage. Comments are due by Jan. 2.

The board will be back at the Anchorage Sheraton Feb. 21-27 to take up Alaska Peninsula, Aleutian Island and Chignik finfish and from March 8-11 to focus on statewide finfish and supplemental issues. Comments for those meetings are due on Feb. 7 and Feb. 20 respectively.

The board could choose to amend meeting dates further based on the number of proposals received for this meeting cycle. If this were to occur, it would happen at the board’s October work session. Proposals for the 2018/2019 meet  cycle are due out by late July or early August.
