Bill Hansen Memorial Cemetery Cleanup

The Eyak Corporation is honoring Bill Hansen, who played a large part in making the annual cemetery clean up happen, in their eighth annual cemetery cleanup from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, June 15. Meet at the front of the Pioneer Cemetery at the end of Lake Avenue. Lunch will be provided.

PWSSC presents ‘Discover Cordova: A walk in the woods’

The Prince William Sound Science Center presents “Discover Cordova,” featuring a walk in Nirvana Park to learn about living and nonliving components of Cordova’s forest habitat through games, scavenger hunts, exploration and art. The walk in the woods will take place from 10 a.m. to noon on Friday, June 15 at Nirvana Park. All ages welcome. Participants will also make Father’s Day cards through the use of leaf-rubbing. Rubber boots and rain pants are recommended.

Disney’s ‘A Wrinkle in Time’

There will be two showings of ‘A Wrinkle in Time’ at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Friday, June 15 at North Star Theatre in the Cordova Center. All proceeds benefit the Friends of the Library for children’s furniture in the library.

Bird-in-Hand and The Painted Bird at Copper River Gallery

The gallery features more than 130 hand-knit birds and the walls are lined with art created by Cordovans, other Alaskans, and more, on exhibit until June 15. All works of art are for sale and a portion of sales benefit the museum exhibits and galleries. The Cordova Museum is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and noon to 5 p.m. Saturdays.

CPR/First Aid class

Eyak Lake Cleanup Day

Help the Copper River Watershed Project clean up tires, pressure-treated wood, Styrofoam and anything harmful to salmon habitat during Eyak Lake Cleanup Day, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 30. Lunch and snacks will be provided.

Register for the 2018 Kelp Box Derby Race

Registration is now open for the 2018 Kelp Box Derby Race, held during the Cordova Old Time Downtown Fourth of July celebration. Racers of all ages can register at cordovachamber.com/driver. Build your own downhill racers, they must have steering and brakes, and bring it to the Fourth of July celebration.

Summer night skeet and trap shoots

The Cordova Trap & Gun Club is adding summer night skeet and trap shoots again, Thursdays from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Cordova Public Shooting Range clubhouse. Members and non-members of all skill levels welcome. Bring something for the grill or to share. Cancelations may occur due to extreme weather. Al-Anon returns to Cordova

Food pantry services

The Little Chapel is administering Salvation Army extension food pantry services. People needing assistance can pick up food on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The Little Chapel. In an emergency at other times, call the Little Chapel at 907-424-3629. Native Village of Eyak administers food distribution on behalf of the Food Bank of Alaska.
