Icicle names Curry as public affairs manager

Icicle Seafoods, which has deep roots in Petersburg, Alaska, has named fourth generation family fish harvester and advocate Julianne Curry to be the company’s public affairs manager.

Curry, who was born and raised in Petersburg, is also a third generation Icicle fisherman, and former executive director of United Fishermen of Alaska and the Petersburg Vessel Owners Association.

She will work from an office in Petersburg on regulatory and policy matters, government and community relations and collaboratively with her Alaska seafood colleagues on strategic planning.

Icicle Seafoods traces its roots back to when Robert Thorstenson Sr. formed a group of fishermen to buy out the Pacific American plant in Petersburg in 1965 and rename it Petersburg Fisheries, which eventually became Icicle Seafoods.

The company was acquired by Cooke Seafood USA, a subsidiary of Cooke Seafood Inc. of New Brunswick, Canada.
