Fanning named as new CEO of APICDA

Board members of the Aleutian Pribilof Island Community Development Association have named Luke Fanning as chief executive officer when long time CEO Larry Cotter retires in June.

The announcement on June 26 came after a six-month search process, the board said.

Before joining APICDA, Fanning was the vice president and regional manager for First National Bank Alaska. A lifelong Alaskan, Fanning worked as a crewman in the 1990s on a halibut longliner and salmon seiner. He also still gillnets for salmon and longlines for halibut as captain of the F/V Triton.

APICDA is one of six western Alaska CDQ organizations that receives annual allocations of groundfish, halibut and crab.

Profits from APICDA and its subsidiaries are used to better the economies of the villages of Akutan, Atka, False Pass, Nelson Lagoon, Nikolski and St. George.
