Law & Order: July 20-26

The following incidents were reported to the Cordova Police Department between 7-20-18 thru 7-26-18. Any charges reported in these press releases are merely accusations and the defendant and/or defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.                        

JULY 20, Friday:

12:02 a.m. Caller reported a woman running up and down the hall at Ocean Beauty yelling and hitting doors. Officer responded arresting Tereza Chan, age 19 of Anchorage, for Disorderly Conduct and Minor Consuming Alcohol. 12:34 p.m. An ambulance responded to Ocean Beauty and transported an individual to the hospital. 4:22 p.m. Caller requested an ambulance for a neighbor who had fallen. Ambulance responded transporting the patient to CCMC.

JULY 21, Saturday:

8:50 p.m. Caller reported a reckless driver on Orca Road almost running over two children. Officer responded and was unable to locate the vehicle. 10:34 p.m. During a traffic stop an officer arrested Brad Farthing, age 47 of Cordova, for Driving While Intoxicated.

JULY 22, Sunday:

2:30 a.m. Caller reported a fight happening at Trident South. Officer responded taking two individuals into custody until sober. 4:36 a.m. Caller reported a crowd fighting on Jim Poor Avenue. Officer responded, and the crowd had dispersed. 5:03 a.m. Caller reported a man hit him from behind and wants to fight him. Officer responded arresting Cesar Valenzuela, age 24 of Anchorage, for Assault. 5:04 a.m. While on a call an officer arrested Dileaniel Villegas, age 19 of Anchorage, for Disorderly Conduct and Minor Consuming Alcohol. 3:50 p.m. Caller reported a person fell out of a kayak and was in the water in Eyak Lake. Fire Department personnel responded, and the individual was brought safely to shore.     

JULY 23, Monday:

5:20 p.m. Caller requested a welfare check on a friend. Officer contacted individual and found he was okay.

JULY 24, Tuesday:

12:00 p.m. Individual reported someone has been forging checks and attempting to cash them. Officer responded investigating the situation.

JULY 25, Wednesday:

7:25 a.m. Caller reported his deep-sea net had been stolen. The case is under investigation. 6:37 p.m. Caller reported a woman had been assaulted. Officer responded arresting Joshua Kopanuk, age 38 of Akiachak, for DV Assault in the 1st degree. 8:58 p.m. Caller reported people were drinking and leaving garbage by the hospital pond. Officer responded, and the individuals left the area.

JULY 26, Thursday:

12:54 a.m. Caller reported a woman was told to leave the Anchor Bar and the woman punched and threw a cue ball at the bartender. Officer responded arresting Nyarauch Kun, age 20 of Anchorage, for Assault in the 3rd Degree, Criminal Trespass, Access of Drunken Person to Licensed Premises and Minor Consuming Alcohol. 12:15 p.m. Caller reported his fishing vessel is upside down and sinking. Dispatch contacted the U.S. Coast Guard and transferred the caller. 5:30 p.m. David Burch, age 32 of Cordova, was arrested for Violation of his Conditions of Release.    

NOTES FROM CORDOVA DMV:

DMV HOURS: From 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday unless otherwise posted. Motorcycle testing is still available, weather permitting. DMV has moved to 602 Railroad Ave. Payments now accepted for dog licenses, ATV/snow machine registrations, and citations.
