Cruise ship passenger medevaced near Cordova

A 68-year-old woman aboard the Royal Caribbean cruise ship Radiance of the Seas was medevaced to Cordova on Aug. 16 after suffering a head injury, U.S. Coast Guard officials said.

The woman was hoisted aboard an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter from Air Station Kodiak at about 10 p.m., two and a half hours after the request for aid was received and transferred to a LifeMed aircraft crew in Cordova for transport to Anchorage.

Weather at the time was 7 MPH winds, with 3-foot seas, 10 miles of visibility and overcast skies.
