AIJP, CSD offer free immigration clinic, consultations

The Alaska Immigration Justice Project, in partnership with the Cordova School District, will provide a free clinic and consultation to answer immigration questions regarding work permits, citizenship, lawful permanent resident status and asylum.

The first service, open to everyone, is set for 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 19 at the Mt. Eccles Elementary School. AIJP will provide updates about changes to the immigration laws and an overview of how these changes are affecting Alaskans.

The second service, a 30-minute private and confidential consultation provided by AIJP, will be by appointment only from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20 at the CSD Board conference room, in the elementary school basement. The entrance is on Second Street.

All immigrants are eligible for consultations, but priority will be given to students and their families.

To make an appointment or for more information call Paoola Vargas at 907-424-3266 or email pvargas@cordovasd.org.
