Movie night

Teen Art Class is hosting a movie night featuring “Isle of Dogs”, a stop-motion animated science-fiction, comedy-drama at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7 at North Star Theatre in the Cordova Center.

Patch the Pirate Kids Club

Patch the Pirate Kids Club starts back up on Friday, Sept. 7 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the MorningStar Independent Baptist Church, 412 First St., for children grades first through sixth.

Moms, Pops and Tots!

A play group for children from infants to 4 years old will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Mondays, starting Sept. 10, at the Masonic Lodge. The group focuses on exploring developmental issues and building on each child’s strengths through large-motor and small-motor skills play, pretend play and sensory play. The Cordova Times open house

Coast Guard Appreciation Luncheon

The Native Village of Eyak is hosting a U.S. Coast Guard appreciation luncheon from noon to 3 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 14 at the Little Chapel. The event is open to the community to show support for the Coast Guard and thank them for their contributions to Cordova. There will also be a raffle for all active Coast Guard members.

Immigration Clinic

The Alaska Immigration Justice Project, in partnership with the Cordova School District, will provide a free clinic to update the public about changes to the immigration laws and an overview of how these changes are affecting Alaskans. The clinic will take place from 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, at the Mt. Eccles Elementary School commons.

‘Portraits of Nature’ at Copper River Gallery

Kristin Link’s art show, “Portraits of Nature”, is on display at the Cordova Museum’s Copper River Gallery located within the Cordova Center. Link is a naturalist and painter currently living near McCarthy. Her illustrations and field sketches have been exhibited at the Alaska State Museum.

Al-Anon in Cordova

Al-Anon for friends and family of alcoholics meets 7 p.m. Mondays at the Wellness Center (old DMV office). For more information, contact Katie at 907-965-5909.

Food pantry services

The Little Chapel is administering Salvation Army extension food pantry services. People needing assistance can pick up food on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The Little Chapel. In an emergency at other times, call the Little Chapel at 907-424-3629. Native Village of Eyak administers food distribution on behalf of the Food Bank of Alaska.
