Three additional passenger screening canine teams are being added at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport to improve security checkpoint wait times, according to Sen. Marie Cantwell, D-Wash.
The additional teams, bringing the total number to 15 passenger screening canines, will allow more passengers to be cleared in less time, Cantwell said. “For Sea-Tac, being one of the fastest growing airports in the country, this is not just the speed of moving people through TSA lines; this is a layer of security that cannot be underestimated.”
Sea-Tac officials estimate that checkpoints with a canine are able to process 240 passengers an hour, compared to 140 passengers an hour without a canine.
