Law & Order: Oct. 5-11

The following incidents were reported to the Cordova Police Department between 10-5-18 thru 10-11-18. Any charges reported in these press releases are merely accusations and the defendant and/or defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.               

OCTOBER 5, Friday:

3:15 a.m. City Hall Employees reported a small black bear at the post office parking lot. State Troopers responded and found the bear had traveled up a tree near the pioneer on First St. The bear eventually left the area and Troopers determined it was no longer a threat to public safety. 10:33 p.m. CCMC requested an officer and an ambulance for a patient that needed to be transported to the airport.

OCTOBER 6, Saturday: 

Nothing to report.           

OCTOBER 7, Sunday:

Nothing to report.

OCTOBER 8, Monday:

2:24 a.m. Caller reported their neighbors where being too loud.  Officer responded and warned them about their noise. 8:03 a.m. Caller requested a welfare check on their friend. Officer located the individual and determined they were safe. 11:35 p.m. Caller requested an officer but refused to give dispatch information. An officer responded and determined the caller was having an argument with a family member and wanted them removed. The other party left willingly.

OCTOBER 9, Tuesday:

2:26 a.m. Caller reported a bear breaking into trashcans at the Mews Apartments. An officer responded and pushed the bear into the woods. 10:15 a.m. Caller reported a dog that has been barking for the last several hours. An officer responded and was unable to hear or locate a dog. 12:35 p.m. Caller reported a neighbor that left out food items to intentionally attract animals. The Alaska State Troopers responded to the area and investigated this incident.

OCTOBER 10, Wednesday:

11:47 a.m. Caller reported they had dispatched a bear that was stuck in their arctic entry-way.

OCTOBER 11, Thursday:

12:02 a.m. Dispatch received a fire alarm at the police department. A Fire officer was contacted and determined it was a false alarm. 12:39 a.m. Caller dropped off a dog at dispatch that they had found near Breakwater Ave. The owner came to the station and picked up the dog. 3:11 a.m.  Caller reported a vehicle had stalled on Chase Avenue. An officer responded and assist the vehicle.

NOTES FROM CORDOVA DMV:

DMV HOURS: 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.  Tuesday through Thursday unless otherwise posted. Motorcycle testing is still available, weather permitting. DMV has moved to 602 Railroad Ave.  Payments now accepted for dog licenses, ATV/snow machine registrations and citations.
